Semester 2 blog – About the winter break-

This winter break that I had was the worst break I ever had. First of all, I realized how hard the Korean students studied without complain to their parents. The reason I realized how had the Korean students studied is because I experienced the same situation as they did. At 8AM, I arrived in the Academy, took a practice test for 4 hours. When finished, I went up a floor and left my bag and started to listen to the lecture. After 2 hours of the lecture, we have 15 minutes break to eat lunch. The time was 2 o’clock and I was really hungry. After i ate Kimbab within 15 minutes, I went back again and started to study and listen to the lecture. I thought this place was like hell, but others didn’t actually care and was really focused on the teacher. After 3 more hours of the lecture, the academy finally finished at 6 o’clock. And I repeated this schedule for 5 days a week. After a week of this life cycle in the academy, I continued to lose emotion and feelings and I automatically fitted with the others and I was able to manage the 12 hours of lecture and tests. However, I felt I was changing, and I still feel it right now

About Beethoven, Piano Concderto No.5 Eb major Op.73 “Emperor”

One day, I wanted to have some information about Beethoven and his lifetime, and I read one article about “Emperor” which was Beethoven’s one of the best creation.

Before the was happened in 1809 where Napoleon started to conquer Austria, and where Beethoven lived. His city became conquered in 10 days with massive gun fights, bombs, and because of that he almost became deaf. However, he created some songs which were contained larger scale of music, more different kinds of emotion, and with great composing. He had created a masterpiece within his feeling towards the war. Description: This song shows big emotion during the fight and the sounds are so powerful that I can imagine being in the middle of the fight with both marching mighty, and also the soft parts of this music contains the rest and calmness without the war.

Description: This song is what Beethoven made after the war, how peaceful and calm it is, and how dreadful the war was. And also the peace and happiness for all of the citizens who were in the town. I think this song is the best in within this album.

1. Hang on little tomato by Pink Martini

Description: This type of song is good to listen when you always wake up in a bright Morning. This song always sounds warm and quiet. When I listen to this song, I can imagine sunlight shining into my room and fresh cold air ticking my ears as I wake up.

2. My Cherie Amour by Rod Stewart

Description: This artist has a very relaxed impressing husky voice which relaxes my mind and soul. This remix where Stevie Wonder and Rod Stewart has a harmony which is really impressing and touching song.

3. Song from the Snow by Real group

Description: This song is arranged with 5 part harmony and with various tones. There harmony really sounds warm and it really feels like it is snowing outside and the inside is very warm.

4. Warm December by Julie London

Description: This song was arranged in 1965 by Julie London. She has one of the most warm and cozy voice in the World. However, because the song is so short, I have to listen to this song for 2 or 3 times to get warm.

5. Angelina by Tommy Emmanuel

Description: This is a classical fingerstyle guitar song which is very popular in these days. This song feels very soft and warm and always think, wow, acoustic guitars can make such a beautiful sound.

Is advertising is the main cause of unhealthy eating habits?

Nowadays, our daily life is full of advertisements, and it is inevitable for us to choose what to eat with consideration of advertisements. Then, some people believe that it is advertising that is the main cause of unhealthy eating habits. However, as far as I am concerned, other factors such as work load and price of choosing healthy food are more important causes of unhealthy eating habits.
First of all, some people are so busy that they have little time to eat; some other people just take work priority to meals, and they would not like to eat until they finish their work. Take auditors as an example. During working over time, even over night is quite common, and auditors concern more about keeping energy rather than eating healthily. Advertisements may even not in their concerns. Also, price of healthy food is a more important attribute than advertisements. People may be aware of healthy food, but they just cannot afford it. For example, in the supermarket, the organic food is usually as twice expensive as or even twice more expensive than ordinary food. Unless someone is indifferent to price, usually people will choose food match with their income. Similarly, you will see that people may choose to eat Chinese food, healthier, with more nutrition but more expensive once a month or even less frequently, while they may eat junk food, like fried chicken every day.

Does people who have different interests and personalities cannot be friends?

In modern society, every one has their own experience and personal qualities. I clearly disagree with this topic and these are my 3 reasons why.

First of all, learning a lot of different experience, people can get more aspects to solve a diversity of difficulties. Sometimes people do not have enough ideas when they run into difficulties. If they can acquire many different opinions from others who have different views, it may help them provide more manners for problems.

Furthermore, learning a lot of different interests, people can expand their horizons. Nowadays, a great amount of people should pay attention to their work in this high tempo era, especially in urban areas, so that they do not tend to develop new interests in their leisure time even they want to try, because it may spend too much time to learn it. Therefore, if you have friends who not around you, it may give you different chances to develop your new interests.

Last but not least, interacting with a lot of different personal qualities, people can learn how to handle different kinds of others. All of people have their own qualities. However, sometimes people may not know how to handle different people’s temperature. If we can meet more different personalities of people, it may lead us easy to join a team in our future work. Moreover, not only does it help us learn how to manage people, but it helps us learn how to become a good leader as well.

Why is regular students desperate of going into a good college?

Ordinary students which are 99% of most countries desire to go to one of the top IV leagues in U.S or a better university because they think good universities are the key to success. Whats happening in Korean private high schools, for example, foreign language high schools are education students on how to go to a good college by forcing them to take minimum 12 APs, requiring them with vast numbers of clubs and earn medals in those particular tournaments and actually not teaching the actual materials that is useful in real life. This is why the students from foreign language schools fail to survive in IV leagues and the major reason why is that they don’t know which major to choose. And they never thought about their actual dream. Koreans only think that lawyers, doctors, and other carrier only makes them successful. However, I believe there are much more jobs that could be more interesting and that could be successful to be proud of yourself, not successful to show off others. I wish many students could realize that running for their dreams and not just prepare for a good college.

What is happening to Libya?

I do not know any descriptive stement that is happening but however, I could know by looking at the news, the Libya citizens are trying to evict out the president of Libya and other government related people who are making a stagnant economy. Lybia has been dictated for 42years by one dictator. Now, because the protestors are fighting against Qaddafi, Qaddafi’s troops have used machine guns and large-caliber weapons against protesters in Benghazi, the country’s second-biggest city, and more than 200 protesters, including children, have reportedly been killed. What I believe is that Qaddafi is ridiculous enough to kill all of their citizens and give a pretext that he only had to settle the fire or something. If we don’t stop him from getting more involved in the fight, stronger countries need to join the portest team and fight together for Lybia’s brighter future.

Did television improved this world into a better society?

I believe this world is improved a lot because of the television. Before the television was invened, the human beings didn’t have many entertainments in this world. However, after the television was invented, the humans had the most significant and entertaining event the human being could ever think of. Because of the television, the signal of the electric radio beam cased the companies to improve the digital radio signal and other inventors could have a new idea such as computers, mobile phones, and other scientific benefit that the humans could ever imagine.

First of all, the media companies could have more varieties of programs or shows, such as drama, news, and other movies. Because of the invention of television, many movie entertainment companies were made. Such as, the Hollywood, CJ entertainment, and other numerous movie entertainment companies around the world. And a lot of television media programs were invented such as MBC, SBS, CNN, and other popular TV channels. They could have competitions and other political benefits around this country.

Secondly, because the invention of the television, the humans could have the best entertainment without using their actual body around and burn your proteins. Also, other from that, Television could make human beings influence in many positive ways. They could actually feel many varieties of feelings such as sadness, happiness, horror, joyfulness, and many other kinds of feelings that man kind could make. It doesn’t require without having an “actual experience.” Which is also called the “imaginary experience.”

Third of all, the invention of the television gave economical, and scientific benefit. First of all, the invention of the television gave new inventions for the electronic companies such as the Computer, and the mobile phone companies. They could invent LCD monitors because of the idea of the television and because of the signal beam were upgraded,  the phone companies could be improved in a better way, and many companies could help off the government.

So for my conclusion, I believe the television gave huge ideas, and hope for the human beings. SO I believe the television made this world a better place.

About Guangzhou Asian game

This is the logo for 2010 Asian Games that is happening in Guangzhou, China. Guangzhou Asian Games is the 16th Asian Games, and it is starting on November 12th. Guangzhou Asian Games will be end in November 27th.
On the top right corner, there is a shape that kinds of look like a Sun, and that is the official logo of Asian Games. It’s motto is “Ever Onward.” The slogan of 16th Asian Games is “Thrilling Games, Harmonious Asia.”
The main stadium of this years Asian Games is located in Haixinsha Island. The 2010 Asian Games will feature 42 events thorough out 16 days. All 45 members of Olympic Council of Asia are participating in the Games.

The life being in a regular school and being in a rich school…

I have a friend who usually went to my same elementary school which was private. However, when he went to middle school, he went to a public school. He said when he first went there, there were some lower class guys such as the bully, and the middle class guys which are normal and have some friends hanging out which are the 90%, they have the elite class where they are the study major, and the highest class are the one who is the fighter for their class where they fight with other classes. We call them Il Jin in Korean. He then made a friend who was one of them and started to hang around with those guys and soon became like them too. He smoked, he drank, and fought with other guys. His life was totally messed up after that. However in this school, no bulley, no Il Jin(some posers), 99% regular guys. So we have to thank our parents for not sending us on regular school.
